Synopsis:
In 1988 CYNDI SHARPE (17) arrives angry and alone in Los Angeles, fresh from Melbourne, Australia.
She’s dropped out of high school, has just finished a make-up course and is desperate to escape her Mum, her scumbag step-Dad and her shitty hometown. Cyndi lands a job on a straight to video schlock horror film and quickly learns a dark, grubby secret at the heart of Hollywood:
Movie monsters are real and 'owned' by a cruel and secretive division of the FBI, called the Species Control Unit (SCU).
When Cyndi is kidnapped by a gruff 904 year-old Minotaur named NATUNKA she is unwittingly drawn into the Monster Underground, a secret network dedicated to saving monsters.
Together, she and Natunka set out for a remote monster colony in the badlands of Mexico, on the run from the murderous SCU.
To survive they need each other. And while learning to trust will be their greatest challenge - it will also be their greatest gift.
True Monsters is a spirited, sweeping adventure - an epic tale of danger, fellowship and troubled souls.
